Lady Bay Film Club
ladybayfilmclub Lady Bay Film Club - Click here to view the CURRENT SEASON OF FILMS - If you watch films, then… you might want to enjoy them in friendly company, with your friends and family, in a lounge with comfy chairs and a licensed bar, on a big screen, only a minute’s or two walk from your house… – it sounds ideal doesn’t it? Well this is Lady Bay and we can do just that! Join us! And the bonus is, you’ll have the chance to get more out of your movie, and, to see some other films just not being shown at multiscreens… We will be presenting two seasons of films. Each time we’ll screen a main feature, and a side show of something special. The films will be selected to a theme, there will be notes, and afterwards we’ll talk together with tutors, fans, and sometimes, filmmakers. Meeting at Skylarks, Adbolton Lane, on a Sunday evening, in September, October, November, and in February, March, April. 7.00pm for an 7.30pm start. There’s no admission charge for the films. Films include classic and contemporary, Hollywood and independent, English and foreign language. Themes could include: Time, Memory, Dream, Desire, Conflict, Space, Love, Identity, Revolution, Obsession, Revenge, Suburbia, Parody, Road Movies, Musicals and such like, there are all kinds of possibilities… We would like to hear what interests you. An individual film or a theme, let us know. That’s the great thing about films – there are all kinds, and never more so than now. Classics are going onto DVD, independent and artist-led production flourishes, and archive documentaries becoming available for the first time. We are going to explore them all… If you like, we can email you details of the new seasons films near the time We’d be pleased to hear your thoughts or suggestions as well, thank you. And it bears saying, if the talking bit doesn’t appeal then that’s fine. People enjoy films in many ways, some will chat after, some won’t, we welcome your company either way. We think that having food to match a film would be fun, like we did with ‘Delicatessen’, and a wonderful thing about Skylarks is their 30 degrees swimming pool. Right next to the lounge. We wonder about watching ‘South Pacific’ singing along on the lilos with a fruit cocktail to hand… For example: If our theme was The River we could show: L’Atalante (Jean Vigo. France. 1934) The River (Jean Renoir. USA/India. 1951) Deliverance (John Boorman. USA. 1971.) Would you like to see these? What do you suggest? You can help with the choices, just let us know, that’s another good thing about our film club… Watch out for LADY BAY FILM CLUB posters with full details Return to Lady Bay Open Studios Home Page |
