Notes from Lady Bay Open Studios AGM
- First Thoughts on a New Direction -

The Lady Bay Open Studios management team taking the lead in a new direction for the Open Studios group presented the following first thoughts and ideas to the 2005 AGM.  These are to be discussed further over the coming management team meetings and a decision will be made on how they will be taken forward and the practicalities therein.

Change of Date – It was proposed that the next Open Studios weekend be in September. This will enable the new leadership time to establish itself, enables the possibility of a funding application to be made and also provides a more opportune time for schools, graduates and teachers to have increased involvement in the weekend.

Change of Name – It was proposed that the name of Lady Bay Open Studios be changed to Lady Bay Open Arts. With fewer actual studios being open over the weekend this name represents a group that wishes to open up to a wide scope of activity, eg using different venues, public places and spaces, different art forms and events etc.

Application Procedure – It was proposed that an application process be introduced for artists wishing to exhibit work.  This supports the group’s focus on encouraging serious applications and promoting quality and professionalism.  The group are committed to continue to offer the opportunity for new and emerging artists to exhibit and will support applicants where necessary.

Meetings Schedule – The management team propose to draw up a schedule of meetings, roles and responsibilities and plan the focus of each meeting throughout the year in advance to enable the team to manage their time and the focus of their management responsibilities more effectively.  Any additional meetings required can then be set as and when needed around these core sessions.
